More MacBook Pro problems · Feb 19, 05:01 PM by Richard Thompson
The wireless on my Mac has never been 100%, but i decided to live with it instead of wasting two weeks while Apple try to repair it. Wireless is a big part of a laptop however, and for it not to work almost makes it unusable.
The problems I have been having today make it more than almost unusable to definitely unusable.
While using the machine the screen went blank, leaving just the power light glowing. Just a crash I thought (Yes, Macs crash as well, its not only PCs), restart and all will be well.
Restarted to find that it didn’t restart. Black screen, no chimes, no nothing! After leaving the machine for a couple of hours I returned and managed to get the machine to restart.
Everything seemed normal. Ten minuets later the F11 key seemed to have stuck, pressing it didn’t fix the problem and the key was up. This was either an OS problem or faulty keyboard. Restarted to see if was OS glitch, which lead to the same restart problems. After about another hour the machine started again, but this time the F11, return and comma key were all faulty. After more restarts the comma key eventually packed up completely.
Time to take a trip to the local Apple store once more! When arriving at the store I was told that there were no appointments until tomorrow, explaining that I didn’t need to see someone and knew what the problems were they still wouldn’t let me book it in for repair. A task that would have taken the help desk muppet a ten seconds to complete. I now have to make another trip to the store for this faulty, expensive bit of kit! Simply not good enough!
I know that Mac have updated the hardware in the latest MacBook Pros to resolve some of the issues I have had. Seems I was just unfortunate to buy one of the older buggier ones.
